What are these, and how do you create them? They are mentioned in Icarus scripting, and so I take it they are some path info, but i can't seem to find anything else about them. Thanks Jaeden "Sifo Dyas" al'Raec Ruiner

Yeah. They are instruction files for moving affectable entities. Scripted movement is limited at best, so more complex or smooth movements require roff files. You make them in 3DSMax, and export using a plug-in.

Okay,

well i've got 3dsmax and a tutorial for Soldier of Fortune, that utilizes sof2map.exe from JO modification tools. However it says that the process requires two plugins for 3dsmax: VMDEXP.DLE - > i have this LWOImp.dli -> where Can i find this?

Thanks

dli is import and dle is export, so I assume you could do without import, but I'm probably wrong,

Well,

Not so far. I am VERY noob at modeling and other such 3d pursuits. But hey, i taught my programming languages, and some visual editing, and I managed to make a complete map in Radiant, i thought What the hell, might as well learn it all. So I am trying to make a vehicle ROF animated path for Icarus to play, and thus add to my cinematic. The problem is the only tutorial I have found involves:

func_wall bsp map no_vis convert map using: sof2map -max -lwo Open LWO file in 3dsMax Export as ROF

and boom you have animations!

or so I thought. None of the VMDEXP.DLE, supposedly produced by ravensoft, work with 3dsmax7, so i can't export ROF now. And oh yea, i can't Import LWO files, so i'm screwed again.

Any help? Jaeden "Sifo Dyas" al'Raec Ruiner

You need 3ds max 4 or 5 to do ROFFs. You can probably get a plugin to import Light Wave objects if one doesn't already come with it. The whole point is to get your map into a format 3ds max can read, so in the end I don't think it matters if the format is lwo or ase or whatever when it's imported. What is exported is what really matters. This is my theory BTW.

So there isn't anything to work with 3ds max 7? only versions 4 & 5?

Well, when I tried it with max 6 it didn't like the plugin and gave an error message when the program was loading up. I assume it's not compatible with max 7 either.

6 is too new, so 7 is obviously too new. 3D Studio Max is the one thing that you don't always need the newest one, as the older it is, the more plugins it has.
