Did you remember to try the shader on the model Ingame, shaders don't show up in modview.

It doesnt have to be a TGA file because you simply want to add shine, but in this case I will tell you how to use a specular shader, this makes the texture to be more affected than usual by global lighting. Lets say your texture is called "robo_hand", make a copy of the robotic hand texture, and rename it to something like "robo_hand_spec" as a jpg file. Open robo_hand_spec.jpg, now the parts that you want to shine make them brighter, while making black the parts you dont want to shine. Now apply the following shader:

models/players/YOURMODEL/robo_hand { { map models/players/YOURMODEL/robo_hand blendFunc GL_ONE GL_ZERO rgbGen lightingDiffuse } { map models/players/YOURMODEL/robo_hand_spec blendFunc GL_SRC_ALPHA GL_ONE detail alphaGen lightingSpecular } }

The brighter the part on the robo_hand_spec texture are, the more it will shine. If you did not understand let me know so I can try to explain better.

A quick question,sorry to interupt.. Does the path after the first line have to be "map models/" confusedx.gif

The "map" part is essential, the part that follows is the path to the texture, so no, it doesnt have to be models/

OK,everything worked out now :) First I've put more detail into the robotic hand,it doesn't look exactly like in RotS but I think it's ok...I just wanted to make it look more robotic with wires and such stuff ;) The shader also works...I did as you explained Trauma Sensei and I like the result.So thanks for your help :thumbsup: For now,I've attached a screenshot - done in ModView so the shader can't be seen - of the more detailed robotic hand. :)

Not bad... but I think some parts are a bit too yellow...
