Well, I had this idea for a nice hilt design but I'm not good at all the steps, or the skinning of the saber when they are done. I've followed tutorials, and know the basics on how, but alas still not good at it or the skinning. So I was wondering if someone might be willing to make the hilt and texture it for me? I know a friend that was able to get a nicely done hilt done by requesting, so felt I could try doing the same thing.

I'm not quite sure what all I could tell you that I want done to the hilt except what is in the images. I mean, if you want to add something more, depending on what it is, that's fine. Maybe some kind of "grip" thing there in the middle of the yellow-ish/gold section on the under part.

I hope to try and keep the colors the way they are there in the image, maybe a little better of a gold looking color then what's there, but that's what I've got. If anyone is willing, I'd be more then grateful!

Also, while I have this in a .max file, and it could help with some working on getting the saber made, I'm not sure if you'd be able to use this exact model and just get it in Jedi Academy, because I not only used a lot of sides and such when making it, but there are actually a lot of spots that the black and gold don't quite touch and so leave a gab, and a few small spots where it's really flat, because I moved a poly over to connect. Thus stretching how far of a distance it was. So I'm not quite sure if the .max file will help much.

... Why are the black and gold bits separate in the first place? That's what textures are for.

Because I'm not good at doing the textures, so I merely did the color in 3DS Max itself and posted to see if there was a way someone could possibly do it. It's also why I posted almost every angle I could think of.

Actually it doesn't. I didn't say I didn't know how to make it. But I suck at making it. So I was hoping I'd be able to find someone who was pretty good at them to make it. I've followed that tutorial for a few years ;)

Ahh, I see, so you're looking for someone to make the skin. Not sure how many are willing to perform the task (we do have a few, mind you). When it comes to making a skin, the image-editing part, it's just a matter of deciding how you want the saber to look; some like theirs with a metallic texture, while others may like just standard black color. It all depends, but some tutorials with photoshop/gimp may help. Also, if you're looking more into U/V Mapping, then we've got plenty of tutorials and resources available in this very forum:

Good luck.

Yeah, I know roughly how to do the Mapping and such, cause I have done a few sabers myself mind you. I just, am not a person that does the texturing for it. I just can never seem to get it to ever look right, and I don't know why. But really, the way it is in those images is how I was hoping it would turn out to be in the end, but I can't seem to get it right when it comes to making those colors work with images....lol

And like I said, a friend of mine came to the forums a requested his saber, and he got it done and it was pretty nice looking, so he told me to come here. lol.
