Model I've been working on: Beatrix's Save the Queen sword from Final Fantasy 9. I wasn't quite able to figure out the exactly color scheme of the hilt (because gosh golly, she's always holding the darn thing!) so I kind of made it up. The blade itself should be relatively accurate.

This is what the original looked like: attachment.php?attachmentid=42122&stc=1&d=1132461272

It's basically done. Any thoughts?

The only thought I have on this is simply: Fantastic work. I can't wait to see more of this and your other FF weapons. Keep up the good work. Ingame the blade looks more true to the blade. the top shot just seems a bit too pink to me...I don't recall that well, though, it's been a while since I've even pondered the possibility of playing 9.

It looks good, though I'm not sure the pink hilt really fits too well, and the thingy above the hilt and below the blade doesn't seem detailed enough. Your skin seems to be a rather plain gray area while the in-game shot looks like it has some jewels or something in it. It looks goldish. Everything else looks right.

Pretty cool, you should make the Save the Queen from Final Fantasy Tactics. But you probably won't. A little off subject, you're doing all these FF9 models, is it worth playing?

This is my first FF9 model, actually. It's an alright game. Certainly better than some of the others in the series.

As for the lack of detail on the hilt, as I mentioned it's hard to get any decent shots of it, so I have to decide whether to bother adding (and possibly fabricating) detail, or leave it plain so that the attention focuses more on the blade, where it should.

By the way, the blade is pink because Beatrix is female ;). It really depends on which images you want to look at whether ot not it's that pink. I just chose to exaggerate it a bit, since she is indeed female. Which the specular shader it looks more like a silver, anyway.

The only FF's I liked less than IX were I, II, and X-2. I thought the plot was kind of basic Fantasy stuff, though it really got screwy at the end, and I mean that in a very, very bad way. For me, the characters were also pretty forgetable and the ending was a really steortypical happy-ending. Though I did get to the 3rd disc before my attention started to slip, which is more than I can say for X-2, which I lasted 2 hours before all the crap in that almost made my head implode. And Inyri, yes this would look cool in KotOR...

i guess ill have to model the Excaliber and Excaliber II then :p, but really, good work Inyri, although i think the gems were a slightly darker shade of pink, and Ifrit, i agree totally about the screwy part, especially Necron, i mean, wth?

I never really had the motivation to play 9. I played 7 first and loved it, then 8 and loved it even more... Then I saw the pics for 9 before it was released and was really put off by the character designs. I mean, the big heads, hands and feet were okay for ff7 because it was the first FF game for the PSX. But 8 really showed us how realistic the characters could look. Then 9 goes back to the deformed midget look? Nuh uh... Not for me. Also one of the main attractions of previous FF games was the music. However from the music I've heard from 9, it seems like Uematsu isn't even trying anymore. Same goes for FF10.

Anywho, now that I've gotten that off my chest, the model looks awesome. I like the patterns on the hilt, although I'm not really a fan of pink. However, the blade looks too pink compared to the pic of the actual character you have there, and a little more detail could be added to the guard. Maybe make up some patterns like you did with the hilt.

heh i disagree jimesu, i think the characters and their vibrant color schemes fit perfectly the twisted world they were in, along with the music.

that was what i wasnt buying though. i didnt like the mix between futuristic and medievil styles. i prefer one or the other, the blend was just offputting to me.

looking really good iny, i may have to make a beatrix to go with that :3 she was fkn hard core in that game. every time you fight her, she kicks the crap out of you >_< i think maybe for the hilt, baring in mind the other weapon styles of the game, you should try a bound leather look. maybe a nice scarlet with gold trim =]
