Shaders create texture effects. If you want assistance with a particular effect you'll have to know what you want before we can help you.
i have some silver lining on my skin that i want to.....well kinda move when in different light and to glow in the dark. and i have a ying yang symbol that i want 2 glow in the dark 2. here is a pic of it (it's on pcgamemods) http://www.pcgamemods.com/14441/a/1/hope u guys can help:)
The Silver lining would need to use a Whiteline GFX and use a scrolling shader. I dont think glowing is possible, at least in the dark, to where when you enter darkness, it activates. I think that's beyond the Quake Engine, or at least my knowledge of shaders. As for the Yin Yang, you Could apply a specular shader, in which isnt affected by light, so it would "Shine" in the dark.

It is, in a roundabout way... you'd have to make the piece not be affected by lighting. That, however, would make the first part of his shader not work. And specular shaders ARE affected by light. That's how they work :uhm:
My mistake. Then which shader was the one that wasn't? Its hard for me to do any research in my base files, because, once again, my desktop's in the shop.

13+4=20 Good math skills. Adam, I don't believe you can have "glow in the dark" and specular (aka shiny) shaders at the same time. You'll have to pick one.
Unless you used an alpha channel and mapped two skins to a body part, each with a different shader.
