I am working on a map with torches which I am using shaders for the light emitted by the flames i have the glow working but the brush I used for the shader texture keeps showing up but I don't want it to, any help

did you make it a png with transparent sections or give it an alpha layer and save it as a 32bit targa file?

how would I go about doing that and for an alpha channel how do I make it transparent

Now that I think about it, you'd best off just be using a normal jpg (provided the background is black) and an appropriate shader.

textures/mymap/texture { qer_editorimage textures/mymap/texture qer_trans 0.3 cull twosided q3map_nolightmap surfaceparm nonsolid surfaceparm nomarks { map textures/mymap/texture blendFunc GL_ONE GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_COLOR } { map textures/mymap/texture_glow blendFunc GL_ONE GL_ONE glow } }

Optional extra: animmap 10 mymap/tex1 mymap/tex2 mymap/tex3

The animmap would create a flickering texture by going through alternate flame textures, at a rate of 10 a second, giving the appearance of flickering.
