So I've decided to take a venture in to mapping, it seems like a worthy skill after all. When one tires of making skins and weapons there's little else to do unless you can rig playermodels, which I can't. So I got a dream, to make a section of a city, or a small midevil village. So I went through all of the steps to make a map, and voila, it works! Except the skybox fails. I have all the outer faces caulked properly, there are no leaks, and I simply applied the skybox texture to the upper-inner five faces, leaving the ground a ground texture. When I load the map however, the walls are black. The texture I'm using at the moment is the Yavin skybox, does anyone have any clue why it's not working? I checked over the tutorials in the master sticky and none of them had anything about this from what I can tell. It's probably just a nub thing that I'm overlooking because.. I'm a nub? :smokin:
Eeeyeah. when it cmes to skyboxes, maybe don't caulk them on any side?
Eh, well, the original raven maps are caulked on the outside as far as skyboxes go.. So I think that'd work *shrug*

Did you add any lights? Maybe thats why the wall was so dark.
Yup yup, lots of lights, quite possibly excessively. I have atleast 10 lights in place for nothing more but a floating pannel in the middle of the sky.
Try using a different sky box texture in the selection. Try using the Byss shader for example (I.E little white box with the word "sky" printed on it and has the name "byss" [or something like that] ). Also, calk everything the player can't see! Even on sky boxes. Only place the sky shader on the walls visible to the player.
