I'm still not entirely sur on exactly how skyboxes work, so would it be possible to have a sky box where you can see the curvature of the planet when you look to the sides? If so, how would I go about doing it?
A skybox is just a collection of 6 compatible images that are rendered in game so that they appear indefinitely far away around the player.
It's up to you how to acquire those images. If you use a program that will create curvaceous renders, then you'll have it.
But would you end up with 4 curves each starting in a corner, rather than one continuous thing? That's what I'm asking.
Damn... No, I don't want to think about it. My mind will rupture.
There is a setting in the shader that makes the textures curve, so it seems like you see the planet curve. I forget which one it is, but it's possible.
Perhaps a portalsky would help there?
Aha, but it would need a fairly smooth sphere... *rant rant patch mesh rant*
Hmm i believe terragen has a feature for making the terrain look curved like you want, if you set the camera position to a high enough altitude you should get that 'curvature of the planet' sort of look :) Not sure how to do it step by step though, since ive not tried it :/
