This is something I've just starting on (along with a few other maps). I'm creating a group of tropical islands, each with much smaller islands, palm trees, beaches ect. I'm going to have some maps whic are a single island, some which are groups of islands and other natural structures. There will be day and night versions, as well as inhabited/uninhabited versions, with thatched native huts. I'm also going yo add CTF and Siege support, and maybe some smaller islands for duels. I do howevr need a favour. Would someone be so kind as to create a palm tree model for me?

I'll add screenshots once I've got the basic layout completed.

Oh, forgot to mention: I'm also taking requests/suggestions for objectives and other designs for islands.

I have just what you need, or rather links to just what you need. http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/217818 http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/238458 The first one is MUCH better, but it's higher poly. Naturally you can bring that down in damn near any editing program like gmax or whatever. Of course they're free files, and are freely distributed for anyone's use. What I *dont* know is what file type radiant uses. I should mess with it sometime. I'm looking forward to your map, it shounds really cool.

Edit: seige would be difficult.. I can't think of one damn objective to have. Maybe disable a piece of equipment in a hut or something to disable a forcefield? I don't know really..

Also if you need the files converted in to a diffrent format I can give a stab at it.

I think GtkRadiant needs md3 files, and I can't convert 3ds into md3. Cand you? The first looks really cool, I'd like to know whether those leaves are alpha textured, or individual polygons though, before I settle on one. Thanks for the support, I'll try not to dissapoint!

They're individual polys, the poly count on that one is most likely through the roof. But I'm something of a wiz at bringing polys down ALOT. Also I can very easily convert 3ds to md3 if the 3ds imports to gmax properly for me. (I might use these trees on a map of my own if it works out well)

Well damnit. I can't get it working yet. My computer chokes when I load it up, then if I try to edit it gmax freezes. Now when I get a NEW computer.. *sigh* Anyway, I'll look in to other options for you. Sorry that didn't work out.

Update: HAH! I did find a new palmtree model that's a bit more realilistic, not a coconut tree mind you, but it's fairly low poly, and I could drop it more if you wanted. It's at 3k right now, which could be a bit intense.. Or if you'd rather just make one yourself that's cool too.

3k... how much can you drop it? Can you simplify the leaves so that I can just texture on the actual fronds?
