A friend of mine and I have been working on a Rosh skin for most of this evening. I've gotten all the images done, and everything works EXCEPT for the sounds that he made.

We've tried...

1. Even though I specified 'bree' in sounds.cfg, it continues to use Rosh sounds.

2. Moving a working sound from one persons skin into ours also does not work in game.

3. Have tried all sorts of Kbps values, including 128, 96, 44, and 71

4. Hz at 44, 41, 39, etc

5. Sound is Mono

Any idea what could be happening? If someone requires file, I will PM you it.

Thanks! Pande (and Yami_Ryou)

Skins do not "default" to Rosh. If it's playing Rosh's soundset then it's probably set to Rosh's soundset. Make sure that sounds.cfg has the correct folder listed.

and, for the format, the sound has to be mono, 44kHz

also, if it's still not working, I'll have a look at it, if you want me to. Just send me a PM

sounds.cfg reads..

z_bree m

Thats why I thought maybe it was an overwrite issue? So I changed all names that were changable to z_whatever and the pk3 to zzzz_breezombie. :(

Still, I get rosh sounds... VERY odd.

ok ill pm to u exonimus

Ok, I fixed it.

There were three problems.

First of all, you have a folder called 'sounds' in your .pk3, where there should be a folder called 'sound'. It's really annoying, because most folders' names are in plural(like maps, shaders, etc.) but sadly, sound is not.

This made most sounds work

Second, you need a sound called 'taunt' and one called 'taunt1' instead of 'taunt1' and 'taunt2' because 'taunt' is the default taunt sound. That means that uptil now, it just used the default one.

Third: not really a problem, but most sounds were pretty soft. Consider making them louder.

Good luck! and if any more problems arise, feel free to post :D
