a few quick questions, thanks for looking! in sp, can you bind a ingame menu to a key? like press 4 to open setup. And can you have a trigger to open a menu?And in gtk radient, where can i find a fire effect?
Well I don't know anything about your first two questions but I can help with the last one. Use pakscape to open assets1.pk3 in your jk3/gamedata/base folder and look in the effects folder. I think the one most people use is env/fire.efx

@Third question: you can do this using fx_runner and using the fire effect that DarthStevenus posted.
@First question: Using a script, MAYBE, with +left/+right and +enter.
@Second question: No, only in MP (coded), or scripted into the map.
Maybe I'm wrong but there was a map/mod for JA that had a part where the player clicked on a button and it pulled up a little screen that I think required a code input. I'll see if I can find it on my computer.

You must activate a target_level_change entity with the trigger, that must have this: Key: mapname Value: +menu_name
If you start the mapname with '+' it will fire the menu file ;)

Cool, I may just use that in my kotor sp mod. I had an idea for a puzzle but tossed it because it would require something like accessing a menu and having the player enter some input, and I just didn't think it was possible.
EDIT: Hmm, just tried to access the main menu with a target_level_change and it didn't work. I can't seem to figure out what name they want for the menu. I tried +main for the main menu screen, +mainMenu (the name of the main menu in the actual code), and a few other names. None of them worked. So what am I supposed to call it??
Well. It would either be main.Menu or just Main
