Im a new mapper and im having trouble making a spotlight, heres what i do:

I make a room add a playerstart and a light Then i add a info_null deselect all Highlight the light, then the info null & press ctrl + k Then a green line links them

When i start the map the whole room is lit :confused:

What am i doing wrong?

You need to compile with the light option. try "bsp light fast" for a test. Unmless you light is set really high (try 400) but it is probably just the compile option. Bsp light faster or fast is located in the center of the compile options. Hope this helps!

You need to use a info_notnull

I did the same thing 1st time i made a spotlight :)

He already said he added an info_null, you do nopt need an info notnull. I am willing to bet he did not compile w/light.

1) Add an info_null entity for the light to point at. 2) Add a new Light entity to be your spotlight's source 3) Deselect (ESC) everything 4) Shift-Click the Light and then Shift-Click the info_null entity 5) Press Ctrl-K to target the Light at the info_null More info: http://richdiesal.jedioutcastmaps.com/tutorials/gc101lsn6.html

And remember to have the light compile.

Ive being compiling with the (single) bsp-meta option I havent got time to try the other stuff yet Thank for the feedback :)
