It goes like this. Everyone starts off in a Space station in space. The space station has a built in shooting range, main hall, communications room, and an announcement room. It is large enough to have duels, in the rooms and hall ways.

There is a docking bay in the upper part of the space station. People can take ships into outer space and dog fight eachother.

In the outer reaches of space. There will be spheres. These spheres, when flown into, will teleport you and your ship to the airspace of a different planet (which is also large enough to dog fight in). Below there will be a Docking bay to dock your ships and travel on the planet on foot. Each planet will have different things to do. So far my team has planned out

Current Plans: 1.We're starting off with just having 2 planets and eventually growing off from there. 2.So far, Tatooine is currently being made. Once space, Tatooine, and another planet of choice is made, we will test to see if what we have created so far causes lag or any kind of lowering in FPS (Frame Per Seccond). 3. Once we have tested enough, we will move onto 1 planet at a time, taking a break after every planet to review what we have done and seeing if lag or FPS is at risk. 4. We realize that mostlikely we wont do every single planet listed under here, but choose which best fit in the map for purposes of size and importance to the essence of the map. (Note: We are aware of the consequences of not properly checking to see if lag or fps is a problem. LAG IS A SERIOUS FACTOR IN OUR EYES)

Planets in mind: Tatooine Coruscant Mustafar Hoth Korriban Yavin IV

Ofcourse me and the rest of the team know most likely we wont involve ALL these planets, and will start off with just makin 2

If you are interested in joining the team to help make this map please let me know. A mapper will be in charge of only 1 planet therefore cutting down on the work each mapper has to do (but the more the better).

Who is "we" exactly? What do you already have to show for your mod?

Well, your already doing Tatooine, Coruscant and either Hoth/Korriban. But Tatooine and Coruscant are 2 you should definitely do.

Dmitri, i hope you realise that lag is just one of many problems.

* JA wont support anything more than 1000 entities - and thats not including lights without extra values. * The teleporters will undoubtly cause problems if it is intended to be in a spherical shape. It is also likely that the teleporters could cause a slight drop in FPS. * Instead of having "planets" which you're supposed to fly towards - why not just have a set of rings that the ship flies through and teleports them into the airspace of that particular city. Its alot simpler and easier, because you wont have to go to the effort of having to get all the textures for the spheres, and you wont have to use as much space up in the 'space station area'. * Dont forget to make everything that isnt touching the void into a detail brush. Otherwise, it will increase loading time, and cause a drop in FPS.

Thats my advice, however flawed it could be.

Don't forget that the size of GtkRadiant's maximum grid size will be consumed before you even get 5% of such a massive project done - unless, of course, you scale everything down by 95%.

Oh, and the brush limit. You can't forget that. The engine limits you to about 35000 brushes (rough estimate), and if you're wanting to do areas which look anything like they're supposed to, you'll get maybe three areas done before you get anywhere near your goal.

Seriously, people should at least learn what the engine is capable of before they go announcing huge-ass projects like this which have a 150% chance of failure.

The Quake 3 engine is NOT an RPG engine. Don't try to use it like one, because no matter how hard you try, you'll only find that it's an FPS engine - nothing more, nothing less.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

I'm stating to think that my house is bugged... I had a similar (Including starting on a separate space station...) idea.. (Except not on the Q3 engine, since it's impossible)

Time to add this to my list of weird stuff which has happened to me since I moved into this house...

As much as i love to hear everyone's critisicm, please stay on topic and if you dont wish to help, then please dont post anything. The topic was intended to only be asking people who can map, if i posted in the wrong area for that please someone move it into the wrong topic. If not please, it just gives me more to read then if someone was to just post if their interested in joining the team.
