your sig is against the rules. Only one image is allowed. As for your question, are you referring to a cartwheel? Take a screenshot to elaborate.

Ok, i assume that you already know how to strafe jump so i wont have to tell you (anyway, the way i do it isnt the full way, if you are not clear about the technique maybe ask someone to give you a link to the chopshop site, they have it there). You dont really need a mod to perfect your strafe jumping, just get any map (preferably a big one) and keep going. Youll be able to tell whether ur doing it or not. If your not doing it properly, you'd start off painfully slow and getting the speed up wont be easy. If you are, ull start off faster, and your jump will reach an incredible velocity comparable with force speed until you hit a wall or something. Its pretty easy to tell whether ur getting it right.

First of all, praise to you Blu /3oy for wanting to become a good strafe jumper. It is the key skill that separates the elite Quake III-engine gamers from everyone else.

What you need are tutorials to teach you how to strafe, and jump maps to practice on. Both are available at http://www.chopshopservers.com/education/index.htm. Click on the link Strafe Jumping.

Nubs who don't even know what strafe jumping is but who want to see what it looks like should download the following videos, watch, and be awed:

Tricky http://www.own-age.com/vids/video.aspx?id=326 About 18 seconds from the start, Fusion\Nutritious combines Force Speed, Dark Rage, and strafe jumping to zoom around JK2's ctf_bespin, ctf_ns_streets, and ctf_yavin. You will also see him wallfloating on ctf_ns_streets and ctf_bespinfort, which allows elite players to reach remote areas of a map without noob crutches like grapplehooks and amtele. And all with g_forceregentime 200.

Takin' Care of Business (TCOB) http://www.own-age.com/vids/video.aspx?id=386 From 0:55 to 3:30 members of the legendary DSbr clan demonstrate strafe jumping and wallfloating on JK2 CTF maps, some during actual games.

Apocalypse http://www.own-age.com/vids/video.aspx?id=694 Starting at 0:50 and again at 1:30 Euro player Jabba and others strafe jump across JK2 CTF maps during actual games.

Avalon http://www.own-age.com/vids/video.aspx?id=1991 Jabba again, this time in Jedi Academy, beginning at 2:16 uses strafe jumping to outrun a homing rocket as it chases Jabba all over mp/ctf4. It's worth the large download just to see that amazing sequence in this award-winning video.

Also, at 6:54, Tritoch uses strafe jumping to overtake a rocket he fired, and Hoodwinker demonstrates his mastery of strafe jumping by strafing across a jump map going backwards. (Think it looks easy? Try it yourself).

oEnt http://www.own-age.com/vids/video.aspx?id=1183 Beginning at 6:57, oE|Jeff uses strafe jumping to zoom across mp/ctf4 in 12 seconds while under fire. Load up a Solo Game on mp/ctf4 and try to match his time, again without noob cheats and crutches like grapplehooks and amtele. You won't if you don't know how to strafe jump.

Again, skill at strafe jumping is what separates the men from the boys, so to speak, in all Quake III-engine games.

http://www.chopshopservers.com/education/index.htm Click on the link Strafe Jumping, and, as Obi-wan told Luke, you will have "taken your first step into a larger world"

Is there a way to do a sharp turn when strafe jumping? Just curious, because your site tutorials dont mention anything like that, but i heard from another tutorial that its possible.

Yes it is possible, and I know what you mean because it's one of the things that I also have problems with. Commodore covers that at 2:07 in his Strafe Jumping 101 video tutorial.

Basically, you stop alternating L-R-L-R strafes and hold down the sidestep key in the direction that you want to turn, while flicking your mouse in the same direction while continuing to hold down Forward and tap Jump.

If anyone wants help with strafing after watching and reading the tutorials, and practicing on your own on jump maps, if you go to http://www.chopshopservers.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=2 and make a thread asking for someone to give you some tips, I am sure several people would be willing to meet with you and give you some help. They will assume that you have at least tried to learn the basics on your own, but I think you will find there are several people who would be happy to help a sincere beginner.

BTW, if you have a 5-button mouse, one of the things that helped me was assigning one of my extra mouse buttons (in addition to Spacebar) to Jump. I use the mouse button for Jump while strafing and Spacebar for other Jumping. I find it is easier to tap the mouse button to jump while strafing while at the same time doing my mouse flicks. Then my left hand only has to worry about holding down Forward and alternating the left-right sidesteps.
