In an earlier post I was trying to change my model set-up and have a few things turned on and off that you cant do in the .skin file. So, I was told you need to make a .surf file in order to do it.

So, anyone mind explaining how to do a .surf file for JKA...not JO

Thanx

In JKA you just put a "*" in the .skin file next the parts you want removed.

His problem wasn't that he wanted to turn certain parts off, but turn parts labeled with the "_off" suffix on.

Since they did away with the surf files for Academy, none of the JO models that relied on the surf files will work correctly with JA.

I know that they include the surf file options into the npc files but I don't think that helps with player skins, only npc's. You'd have to look into that more,... I'd check out lucas forums too, but they seem to be down right now.

As far as I know, any part of the model can be turned off in JA with the skin file...even worked in JO. (head, models, clear) worked in JO for the grey fox model. as far as turning on, if you have the default skin, leave the path as normal and it should appear. What model are you working with and what are you trying to turn on/off?
