I have a big problem, that has plagued me on two skins. The first time was my Two-Face skin, which had to be scrapped because of this. The second is a trooper reskin, that I'm doing for my clan. We're reskinning HapSlash's improved stormtrooper model, for our own private use, and require the pauldrons to make "rank" skins. Problem is, the model has a surface for the pauldrons, but it won't show. The .skin file reads: "torso_pauldron_off,models/players/istormtrooper/shoulder-orange.jpg" I tried countless methods to fix this, and nothing worked. I also loaded the model up in MilkShape, and couldn't figure anything out. I searched on these forums, and found nothing helpful. I'm now racking my brain trying to figure this thing out, and have run out of options. So I'm asking you guys and gals to help me out if you can.
this one DOES come off, I'm sure of it. Send me the skin via email and i'll get it working.

E-mail sent =)
Okay, just to clarify, tell me what you DID do to fix this, because I'm seeing surf files, and Allah knows what else.

Not much, all's I did was the obvious stuff (changing "off" to "on", opened it up in MilkShape and changed the surface name, etc.). The editing I did in MS wasn't saved, what you see there is what was given to me by my clanmates (surf files and all), all's I did was make the skins.
I sent a .skin file to your mail. tell me if it works.

Tried it just now, but it seems to be the one for the JK3 version of Hap's trooper (it's pretty much the same, but with some model/surface differences). It'll certainly work for the JK3 version, but the trooper I'm using is the JK2 version. Either way (and I know you're just gonna hate me for this =P), I was able to fix my problem just minutes before you sent the new .skin file. Turns out the .surf file in the .pk3 was set up wrong, (it should've worked, but the surface names were incorrect). I fixed it up and now the pauldrons work just fine. Still, if it's any consolation, I wanna at least thank you for taking the time to help me out. Next time around, I'll remember to try everything I can think of before I ask for help. Now if you'll excuse me... *ducks under a desk to protect himself from any items thrown by .The Deviant* =P
=P It's quite alright. I thought, '' hey, I'll download the skin and find out myself''. Anyway, If you want, you could just use the jk3 version, unless it's for JO =P.

Yup, it's for JO. The clan's been around for a while, but we've not yet fully made the jump to JK3. =P
