Ok, so here's the deal...

I recently went back to school, and got myself involved in a 3d animation class. The first assignment for this class made me laugh: a Star Wars style of walker. I dunno if the drawing we had to base our model on was original or not, but here's my work so far:

walker3in7.th.png

Not a great model, I know, but I am somewhat new to modeling still..

Anyway, I was thinking of trying to get it ingame just to get some more modding experience, but first I need a texture, which is where everyone here comes in...

I suck at making textures, especially metal ones. I need a good tutorial for the kind of skin that I need for this model.

Can anyone out there help me?

Thanks in advance!

uh...no...Ive found many bugs with it. Ive used 7, 8, 8.5, and 2008. All but 7 have major bugs. Things that will crash the program.

Zero, do you understand that NOTHING can ever be perfect? Its impossible. One cannot make anything that has no flaws. Its a yin-yang balance in a way. For every good thing there will be something you can complain about.

Technically, not everything has flaws, Take Jesus and God for example, but on the other hand, man-made items are another story... corrupt, evil programmers!

Ok, back to subject... so far he hasn't had any problems, so he should be ok after he gets his texture...

If you use photoshop, Redfield's "Seamless Workshop" plug-in can turn alot of images into seamless tiles(Sorry that I do not have a link but google sould do fine).

Note: the plug-in does not "GG flaw no re" at making tiles, It takes some tinkering, but its a good and quick way to make temp textures (If say your classes deadline for that project was comming up fast and you didnt have the time to make one from strach!).

oh btw: the plug-in is free.

Funny, so have I. Also funny that I haven't experienced any of these bugs that you have mentioned... Not once has this program ever crashed on me. You sure it isn't just the computer causing a problem?

Yeah, well, you can't describe to Google exactly what you need like you can to a human.

The tutorials listed above aren't what I am looking for, really... It never turns out realistically enough for my tastes...
