hallo, hope all had a good X-mas i was trying to create a negative glow sabers but with the knowledge that i have now, i feel lost. i tried painting the saber core black in photoshop or making it like very dark blue, but they all come out transparent in the game this is what i am talking about: vlnzrydpcr.jpg

any guide here?

They are transparent because the saber uses a glow shader which makes the all the black colored parts of a texture transparent.

atleast in JK2 they use this to make 'swords'.

I think the problem could be solved with removing the glow shader that makes the saber glow, it can be found in one of the shader files in the assets1 folder, I'm not sure which though.

is there a way to create a shader? coz deleting it from assets.pk3 isnt really bright for modding or to release it

I'm sure there is, though I'm not that good with shaders to tell you how exact.

I think you should take the shader file out of the assets folder and edit it, then make a new pk3 with the shader (allong with your other files for the mod) if I'm correct it should overwrite the current shader in the assets folder.

ok good thing, i opened up ther saber.shader using shadereditor in the SDK now i could give a saber blade feels such as wood, glass so on, but i dont know wht is causing the shader to give transparency to dark colors( there is just toooooo many options there)

Don't use the editor if it confuses you, just open the shader in wordpad (like .skin files).

then search for the glow shader, which will look like something as this:

{ map models/weapons2/youraveragerandomsaberglow/saber_glow blendFunc GL_SRC_ALPHA GL_ONE glow } just delete it, save the file and proceed with what I said in my post above.

it worked, some how, but now i get a transparent black blade that glows yellow( i think instead of deleting the line, i could just edit it, change the ALPHA to something) i am experimenting on the yellow blade by the way
