I need some help....I am trying to use a non-default JKA vehicle as a static model in a map. I know nothing about modeling other than reading some very basic tuts, which I didn't understand too much of to begin with.

The vehicle in question is a glm file and I'm trying to convert it into an md3 file, that much I get.

I downloaded gmax, but this is where I'm stuck. I've googled a bunch of different phrases trying to find out how to do this. But so far I've come up empty, perhaps I'm not searching the right thing.

Does gmax need a special plugin to import glm files? And if so, does anyone know where to get it? I looked at the master sticky page but didn't see a plugin that fit the bill, and the plugins and scripts I did manage to download also don't seem to hint at a glm importer. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I dont think you can import a glm into Gmax. Theres is, however, a misc_model_g2. G2 is Ghoul2, I.E glm. Try that.

well one thing you can do is get into contact with the original author of the model and they might just very easily export it as a md3 which would only take a second to do, i did it for SJC with a couple of my vehicle models.

Hmm, tried using misc_model_g2 and input the model path. I didn't see the model in gtk radiant, should I? I didn't compile the map to see if it worked in game though.

Yeah, I did that already too (haven't heard back yet), but I was hoping to also figure out a way to take a skin and do the same thing, if possible.

well you can do it with playermodels, the t1_danger level has the answers you seek (the dead miners) but the vehicle needs to be re-exported as a md3, what model are you trying to use?

yeah i know, i was hinting at that, you know, learn by doing.

but anyways, manquesa's a friend of mine, i could just ask him on msn if he can just quickly open the file up in 3ds max and just click on export .md3 and post it here and voila.

Wow, that would be really great. He actually has 6 different color variations, if it's not too greedy for me to ask, md3's of all 6 would be awesome...with foils closed (they're to be in a hangar, not flying around). Thanks for your time in helping me out. :)
