Hey everyone! I need some help on a .veh file. I can't seem to find a tut so I came here. I'm making a car vehicle. Yes a car! I'm using the swoop and so far have clipped it to the right size, gave it NO hover (modern car...), and fixed speed/steering/braking to make it more..."carish". But since a swoop is a .glm and I only have .md3 cars which I want to use, can I use and .md3 to replace the swoop? Or do I somehow have to make it a .glm:( . If anyone can help me or knows how to convert .md3 to .glm please help! Thanks I thought I remember seeing a .glm to .md3 converter or the other way around but I can't seem to find it. I know about import/export glm and md3 plugins for max but my max isn't working currently... :( -=Sarge=-
I believe you have to compile vehicles the same way you compile player models.
Inyri ForgeI believe you have to compile vehicles the same way you compile player models.
Yup, but unlike player models, vehicles do not have a default skeleton.
Ermm, how do you make a car steer? I finally got my ms3d up and running again and created a basic car.
So...Can I import my .md3 into gmax (yes I'm still using gmax *sigh*) and then export it as .glm? And I know about not fitting a skeleton. All I want to do at the moment is replace the swoop .glm with my ferrari.md3!
no you have to have the mesh hierarchied and rigged to a single bone and export as .xsi and compile it with carcass like a player model. neither gmax or ms3d will work with this, you need the full version of max or XSI.
I can't just take my .md3, import it into milkshape, and then export it as Ghoul 2 .GLM (Which is on the list) ?
nope, ms3d is incompatible with JA, that glm exporter doesnt even work for sabers. you have to have 3ds max or softimage|XSI to make a player or vehicle model. ill look into maya's free version to see if it has a working .xsi exporter, but of course the free version of XSI can do it too. even though ms3d has a .xsi exporter it doesnt have a heiarchy linker to link the mesh together, nor can it even make helper objects. it can however rig things to bones and ive tested this and rigged something and then exported to .xsi and imported it into softimage and the model was wieghed to the bones so the .xsi exporter does work. but until they update the program with a heirarchy linker and a whole new primitive set adding helper objects then you wont get anything workin with ms3d.
