Hey everyone! :cya:
I must admit I'm pleasantly surprised that this game still has a thriving community :bows: I just decided to play it again and wanted to do a very simple edit this time:
Put myself in single player :D I always hated how the game has just 3 human heads to choose from. I've looked around found some mods, skin packs etc. got the official modding tools and guide (which sounds pretty simple) but the problem is that all this seems to be for multiplayer.
Basicly I just want a new head there - long haired one - ponytail or might be like Qui-Gon Jinn's. And then just edit the face skin :naughty:
I will be really thankful if you can direct me as to how to do this? Again just for single-player.
Thanks in advance!
Firstly i would suggest you read this tutorial on making a single-player species variant:
Any model that has species support will work in single player. If you just want to use a model for your own personal use you can just download a model that looks roughly like what you want and just modify the images.
This qui-gon jin model has species support so it will work in single player: Qui-Gon Jinn Customization Skin Download, Jedi Knight 3 Skins
If you want to add in a whole new head rather than just modifying an existing one then what you can do is find the skin files that deal with the head (they generally have names starting with "head_", and just copy and rename it then you can make a whole new head image and have your new skin file point to it. Then it would just be a case of making an icon and you would be good to go.
Species support can be a bit bewildering at first but once you get the hang of it its quite simple :lulz:
Thanks a lot for the complete reply :) I will check this out - and no I have no ambitious to make new models and such. I've went through all possible skin packs and model packs yesterday, some worked for SP others didn't and I had no idea why. I feel everything that could've been modded in this game is already done :D so I'll just have a little skin edit for fun!
A quick way to get a skin in sp is to make a npc file. Just find what ever skin you like and take an existing npc and change the path name to the skin you want.
There is a lot more stuff your can do with npc's, but this is a good start.
