Hello skinners been playing this game awhile and always wanted a custom skin. Nothing fancy just a reskin of an existing sith character. I have zero talent in modding I'd like to know if any of you would be intrested in helping me and bieng reinbursed. So if anyone would like message me. Thanks for listening.

I don't think you'll find anyone charging for their services. Skins are more likely to be taken up than model requests, but if you post an idea in the open people can decide fster whether or no they like it and the chances are greater still of it being done.

It's actually illegal for people to charge for making mods, so even if you wanted to you couldn't pay anyone for it.

Hmm... I'm actually far from certain a skin made from scratch would be illegal to sell. A skin modification certainly. But basically if the textures were all 100% new, it would be just an image, and all the rights belonged to the creator. Of course there is the fact they would fit an existing model perfectly, but I don't know if minding a UVW mapping configuration could be considered a grievous copyright infringement...

If it's not created for a specific game, then it could be considered legal to sell. Although, selling a JPG image would probably be considered a scam anyway for various legal concerns due to transferability of ownership rights or something like that. Overall, it's a grey area.

Works that are made and specifically formatted for a specific game cannot be sold. This includes derivative products. For example, if you made a map in UnrealEd or GtkRadiant, you can't sell it, because the compiled map is a component of the game engine, and components of the game engine are covered by the terms of the EULA.

A texture designed specifically to fit the UVW maps for the Jedi Academy models likely would fall under that category, since the models are integrated into the engine, thus technically they could classify as components of the engine. Either way, Raven Software own the rights to the models and all components of the models, and they've only given authorisation for the end products of any editing to be released as freeware.

The released source files may actually be protected under the GNU General Public License, but if they are, I certainly haven't heard about it. Just that a lot of developers do tend to protect their source files under the GPL.

Yeah. You could very well be right.

Yet, I guess in the end it would require a software industry lawyer to get a really educated opinion. And who knows if that has been ever even tested in the court.

Notice how even after I said "Don't bother bribing us, what do you want done?" the thread got hijacked into legal discussion? So Count, what were you thinking of getting done?

LOL wasnt trying to bribe anyone i just know People put alot of work in these things and decided it would be worth paying for the service since i'm not one to ask for hand outs. I'd like a sith type charecter maybe a reskin of Jaden wearing a mostly black sith looking jacket and pants but more pale skin tone jet black short hair and brown eyes.. Nothing too extravagent just something to call my own. =) I was wondering if buy using a jaden model your also stuck with his anoying taunts? I'd prefer the reborns taunts.

Something Like this guy...But with the robe and pants colored in all black and dark grey. With dark eyes instead of blue. With the reorn voices and maybe my avatar as the pic for the model. Is any of this doable or too much work? Just wondering. Jedi.png
