Ok well a clan friend of mine has requested this of me and i am in need of a little assistance as im not the greatest hilt modder and i need some help on a few things. Here is my only reference picture for the hilt:
Basically the problem i can see i'm going to have is the architecture on this, like the bottom part of the hilt and the shaft where the overlaying parts are. I don't really have the slightest how to do it apart from maybe moving the vertices's around but i was wondering if theres an easier way to do this.

well... one way you can do it I suppose is to make a cilinder, transfom it into an editable poly and move the vertex to make it look like the original hilt, and later when skining it you can "fake" those difficult shapes by just using the picture that forms the skin. The hilt is an small object and details look the same from far away. Try to make the texture as detailed as you can that way you can counter the not so detailed hilt....

Thats was my original though on how to do it but im not really any good with moving the vertex points into a good position without good draw out reference.
