There are a couple sections of the skin I'm going to tweak (such as the bolts/rivets being too big), but I thought I was far enough to garner some decent opinions on the progress.

The blade looks good, except the insignia looks odd, somehow. Probably since it looks too flat, but then shading black is hard for various reasons. The hilt looks really bad right now too, since there's no shading, but I'm sure you haven't gotten there / just getting started on it. Also, the blade's line thing (:clueless:) in the middle is less straight in the screenshot than on yours, though that's probably getting nitpicky. Also, the holes are more worn.

OT, but where do you get that or meet the esper/boss? I haven't played enough, so I just got to the Viera forest. Though I spent like an hour or two just seeing how big of a sand-people (Nam-Yensa?) chain I could get. I think I got bored after I lost the chain two or three times at 75-ish.

Not sure since I haven't played that far, but it seems like the blue is just the lighting.

I had a Urutan-Yensa chain of 100+. The guy in the screenshot above is Gilgamesh. He's a hunt. He's roughly level 45, so he was kind of easy for me. Seems he wields almost all of the major swords from the series.

As for the line being too straight... I'm really not that picky. :p And I made an executive decision not to make it so blue/dark because I agree that it's the lighting that makes it that way. In fact, I have a picture of it being red, so...

The logo will be worked on further. I'm not quite satisfied with it either. The hilt, though, is shaded. I might make the grain stand out a little more, but trust me, it's there.

I guess that's what my problem was with it. It just looks like one brown color, with a bit of shading. So the grain would definatly help it.

try lowering the opacity of the symbol slightly, so it looks more blended like the referance looking hot though.

Very good model. You could use a specular shader for the blade and some parts of the hilt. It would give a nice yet discreet metallic look to your model.
