Since someone suggested it in my previous thread, and because i also felt like challenging myself and so forth, I have decided to try doing a reskin of grave's Raiden model, into the MGS4 version of him. So far, i've only been working on him for the past while or so, and I'm just wondering to see, if my shading on the metal-ish part is making it look believe able enough...
so, im pretty much just wondering if the effect is believable enough....also, to any skin/model masters out there, is there a way to remove the alpha channeled blank areas of the hair off in modview?? also...could someone inform me on how to use an envmap or if there is one, a chrome shader, because will most likely need that for the more metallic areas....
Also, I haven't played through MGS2 far enough, or have played MGS4, so if anyone is willing to help me with quotes, and sounds, it would be most appreciated
(P.S. sorry for the small of progress i am showing, since i have to go later on, and i was wondering about such things before i go)
Hopefully this skin will end look as go in game as it will in modview....and progress will shown on a routine basis

To get rid of the alpha channel bits, pull down the View menu in ModView and select "...using Alpha Blend."

also, just got my e-mail back from graves, giving me permission to continue with this, so no road blocks there ^ ^ so hopefully i will have more time to work on him this week, and post progress along the way...
and for those of you who are more MGS knowledgeable than I am, any reference pics, sounds, etc. are more than welcome

Heres a Video from MGS4. So, if you dont wanna know anything untill you play the game, dont watch it.
It has a few places where you can pause and look at his legs, back, arms, chest, and head. Might be useful. Also, if anyone can(I might be able to) pull the line Raiden says before the music starts. He says "I just dont fear death". Might be good for a death sound...

Hes going to make a skin because he "maybe" cant moddel so for me the skin is for now enough
yes, its just going to be a strict reskin which i will use the best of my abilities to make this look good..but since it a reskin, yes some stuff will be have to cut off(which i said before..i think) such as his high-heels(i will still try to incorporate the japanese style sandal to the foot though, some of his accessories(extra ammo/knife holders, etc)...and his orange visor....i thought i could find a way to do it but applying it as sort of "on top" of the hair and have a battle damage crack through it for what i couldnt do...but the 2 areas are on seperate layers, and the hair crease will make it look bad with lighting in game...
on that note, does anyone know..does the alpha channel still stay in effect if i start editing the area...because i want to change his hair to his more scruffled up look, but im afraid im going to lose the alpha after that?...(just wondering before i start experimenting with it...
And i did find a somewhat decent all-around view of him, from a toy, so hopefully that will help as well, and the next progress update will most likely be when i finish the face....Any other suggestions/criticism/help is more than welcome
No worries, the alpha channel will stay in effect if you edit it, as long as you continue to save it as a .png or .tga.
