'[LA-Silver;3683272']Nice memory you got there.. Im quite honored you still remember it :') Meh i never finished the texture so i never started the rigging. not meaning to hijack this thread (If you really mind, crossbolt, I'll delete this post) if anyone wants to finish it, let me know.
Silver, you do some killer work...how could I forget! And rigging those guys sounds like fun, though likely you'd really only have to rig one and change the skins on them. Funny how the texturing would work that way too. Either way, Crossbolt, its up to you methinks. You can continue on and enjoy the learning process, or take the fast track and use Silver's stuff. That's a matter of taste it seems. Though I think this could be an opportunity for you to learn modelling and rigging, so its a tough call.
Well, I am not one to quit a competition just because someone bigger than me has joined. I will definately be finishing this... As soon as I find the heart to go back and start over on the limbs using Gir's and Jose's suggestions. I dont think that the body really needs to be revamped since it will be hidden by a shell anyway. And the head is close enough to just tweak some things.
LA, Those are some good models, but I am going for a totally different feel. Slightly dark? Yes, but with a different style in mind. I would love to see those models out there. That still wont stop me from completing this though...
Some of the things I am shooting for with this style of turtle: • A flatter shell • A much "squarer" body build • Just a basic band for both the mask and the belt • A buckle on the belt with their initial on it • I dont know if LA's model has this, but mine will have fully working mouth and eyes • elbow and knee pads with a band at the wrist • on the blue version, there will be two sheaths on the back, facing the same way, as shown in one of the reference pics
As for the blocking out portion, do you think the hands need reworked, or are they good?
you guys seen the new movie of TMNT? it whas great even the quality and damn these models look great
If you're gonna rig the mouth, you have to look into proper facial topology and edge loops. The chin you have now won't deform very well and will probably look weird.
Well, I am back from a break and have decided that I should finish up this model. I am still in the process of working on it, so crits are definitely welcome. What do you guys think so far?
Lightsource may be skinning this for me as well, but that is not finalized, so don't hold it against him if I do a crappy job...
the color scheme is going to be a bit different than Shady's as well. It is going to be loosely based of these colors.
Let me know what you think.
it's looking good for me... they are different of shady's turtles. I have two crits though... one: I think you have to work more on the muscle definition, if you model them in the correct way you are going to save yourself a lot of problems when you rig the model, because it will deform correctly.
Two: I don't like too much the form of the head, I know it's a custom turtle.. but generaly when you use round heads with the eyes so close they end up looking childish
here I've made a drawing to explain myself better... I think that with the eyes more separated would look better also I think you have to model the turtle chest thing too, it will look better modeled that skinned over the chest.
Crossbolt, i think Shady-D made a pack that includes their weapons and a nunchuk patch beacause the 1st pack caused game to crash when u use the nunchuk, he fixed it now with the new pack. I believe its based on the new movie version, and looks real good with just 1 new sound. I got it from filefront.
He already knows that, he wants to finish he's own turtles, I don't see anything bad
Sorry about that, would this be based on the old or new catoon series or the old movie version of the turtles, Crossbolt. P.s. I dont see anything bad too, Lightsource, i think it's comming along well, and your a cool person for giving the time to helping him and giving good pointers.
It's actually based on my own slight version of the turtles... I wanted to give them a bit more of a blockier look, since they seem to becoming more and more streamlined as time goes on. So I thought I would try something new. Here are my reference pics.
Thanks for the suggestions. I acutally agree with you on the eyes. You sort of opened my eyes a bit because that is not how I originally drew them. I already started modelling the front shell on, but I will make it more prominent. As for the muscle definition, I definately understand that is my weak point and I am probably going to need a lot of time/help on that...
