Man, I feel like a newbie posting my problems here so often. Well, technically I am a newbie.

I'm sure this is probably a basic problem and I just did something stupid, but the search feature didn't yield any results. That is, no results that were relevant anyway.

I'm just having some difficulty with a sky shader. You see it works fine, but only if you're looking directly up at it. Otherwise it gives you the hall of mirrors effects. o_O

I know it's nothing wrong with the shader itself, I've used it before and it worked fine, plus I'm pretty sure it's used in the single player game as well. No it'd definately something about my map in particular....

Can you post a screenshot? It would help immensely. Do you have all 6 textures for the skybox?

Here's some GTKradiant screens... S2.pngS1.png

I'm pretty sure I have all six textures, I mean like I said I used this skybox before and it worked fine.

I know that this might sound weird, but try covering the entire brushes with the skybox texture. I had the problem once and I did it, and it solved itself. Although afterwards, after ive done some stuff on it I did some changes and removed it on the outside surfaces, and it still worked, but try covering it with the entire skybox texture.

Please link the shader here aswell.

I'm pretty much clueless with shaders. As such I've never risked messing around with them.

I'm just going into textures/skies and using Dosuun sky. Since I've never messed around with shaders it should be identical to what was when the game was first installed.

Do you still need me to post a link to the shader, because to be honest I don't know how. :Puzzled:

Is the skybox structural?? I think that can cause errors.

To reach the shader, follow these steps:

go to the default JKA Folder (Guessing c:\program files/lucasarts/star wars jedi knight jedi academy/gamedata/base. Go to the shaders folder, and open the skies shader with Wordpad.

In here, search for dosuun, and you will probably get something like this

textures/skies/doosun { qer_editorimage textures/skies/skies.tga q3map_skylight 60 3 q3map_sun 1 1 1 100 85 45 surfaceparm sky surfaceparm noimpact surfaceparm nomarks q3map_nolightmap skyParms textures/skies/doosun 1024 - }

If you do not get the same shader, dont worry. Only copy that part of the shader into a code on the forums, and remember, it should end with a } and the next line should be something like textures/skies/"anothermap"

And yes as NAB622 mentioned, if you have a structural skybox the brushes can sometimes disappear ingame, and you can make them detailed by targeting the brushes and pressing CTRL+M. This will make them detail.

NOTE: Remember that if you have a structure outside of the skybox, the vis wont work very well, as it might render those parts aswell.

Also try as I said to cover all of the brushes in the skytexture.

Okay, thanks. I got it working, it must have been the structural vs. detail thing.

Thanks all. :)
