I've had Jedi Academy for awhile now, but I keep having to reinstall due to my older brother's constant Bittorrent "No viruses, we swear!" downloads and system reinstalls. Unfortunately, this time it appears that aforementioned older brother, unable to find a coaster for his drink... yeah, you can guess. The disc wasn't in perfect condition before that, but it seems to have gone over the edge now. I thought I had solved the problem by taking everything off the still-working Disc 1 and what I could off of Disc 2. Assets1.pk3 was messed up in only a few textures, so i simply made new ones (128x128 px that say "IOU TEXTURES"... I am easily amused) and compiled it using Pakscape into a new Assets1.pk3. I put everything in the correct directories and tried to patch. But it wouldn't work. Unfortunately, due to my way of 'installing' the game, the computer doesn't think it IS installed. Because of that, the patch doesn't work. We also have no CDs or DVDs that could have data put on them and I'm kinda saving money for Prototype, out in June. Any ideas? (I don't really want to download the whole game off the net, either.)

Well if you have all the assets already and the game works (prior to patching), you should be able to just modify your registry to make the computer believe that JKA is installed again so that the patch will work.

But offhand I don't know exactly what modification to make, I'll try to look later and see what it is.

Unless it's a shared computer, your brother should get his own. Or at LEAST he should be using a virtual machine. I mean, really, that's just total stupidity...viruses are not to be fooled with.

'Fraid I can't offer any useful advice on your disc, though.

Just have your brother buy you another copy.

Well, a bit more googling found a weird solution of extracting the remnants of Disc 2 and my 'repaired'/badly replaced files and fooling Vista into believing that the folder I put it all in was a disc. Still, I shall pass on the info about Bittorrent and I might get him to buy me another copy anyway. Thanks, guys!
