What you described looks more like shader issue, I suggest checking the model's shader file and see if everything is correct there.

Yes it looks all fine, I guess something else must be causing your problem.

Aha! I know what it is! The playermodel and customSkin lines. The model needs to be called carbontrooper on the playermodel line. The main name you give the npc file is fine; it's just the playermodel needs to be called carbontrooper. And, add in the line customSkin and whatever the skin file is called, red, blue, whatever. That should fix the problem. You have to have that in any npc file that uses more than one skin for a particular model; that applies to any of them. That's why it isn't working. That should fix the problem.

This is actually what I was trying to tell you; first, rename your skin as model_red.skin (same for the other skins you have, model_blue.skin, model_blahblah.skin, etc.); and, make sure the lines in your extra skin files point to models/players/carbontrooper for all of the textures for that particular skin file, whether it's blue torso, blue legs, whatever. Now, in the npc file, it should be this:

carbontrooper_red { playerModel carbontrooper customSkin red

Try that and let me know if it works.
