Some reason I can't load any config file. It gives me the error Cbuf_InsertText overflowed. To be more specific it can't load any recent cfg files. I can load ones that I haven't tampered with, but as soon as I write over it, I can no longer load it again :( So yea, just wondering what the deal could be and how I could work around it.

This could be caused if you edit a cfg that says DO NOT CHANGE! Such as a critical install cfg. But if your editing the mp or sp console to change force regen rate, etc. it should be fine. If your having LOTS of troble reinstall JA.

Well, I'm not overwriting anything critical. Just creating new cfg files that have my settings (name, model, bind settings etc). It never gave me trouble before. I'm pretty sure it's JA+ related as it doesn't give me trouble when I don't load it.

I have also been getting the same error lately, I have tried to reinstall Jedi Academy, but it still gives me the same error. Please Help I'm tired of having to set my controls, bindings, and my name every time I enter a server.:bawl:

You probably have too many lines in your config. Scan through and delete anything that's not needed in your player settings, then re-save it, and it should be fine.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

Yeah, I've been having same problem. Reinstalling worked, but when I set up a new JA+2.3 server it kept coming back. Everytime I ran the server I had to set everything, even sound and graphics options. The game was replacing jampconfig.cfg with a new, default one. After many desperate actions, I've eventually installed JA+2.2 where this error hasn't occured by now. This error is SOOO irritating!

It's possible. I quickly compared the number of lines of cfg files that work and ones that don't. The ones that don't work are over 650 lines where as the ones that do are a little over 450. So yea, I'm sure that's just comfirmation that that is indeed the problem. I guess JA+ can't load a cfg over a certain number of lines? The larger cfgs load just fine when JA+ is not loaded.

Yeah that was it, too many lines in my config files, I quicky just deleted a bunch of lines without paying attention to what they were, then I went in my server and tried to execute it, and it worked but I had to still edit my name, and some minor controls, so now Im about to go back and delete what I dont need, thanks a lot. :bows:

It's because when you exec your server.cfg, it adds all the server CVARs to your profile CVARs. So the best thing to do, is make a new cfg file, add all your name and controls and model and binds to it, then save it. All you have to do is make a new .bat file to run JA+. This process is outlined on the JA+ forums over at http://japlus.fragism.com (I'd link you to the topic, but my Firefox is dodgy and won't load the site). The only real issue with this is that any time you change one of your binds, or anything that's in your profile config, you have to go into the console and type in the following line: /writeconfig .cfg (Replacing with the name of your config file.) Just do NOT do the /writeconfig after execing any other config file (such as server.cfg), or all the CVARs from that config will be added to yours and it's back to square one.

Awesome. Thanks for the explanation and the help. Very much appreciated.:nodding:
