ive got a problem with JA where by if i try and change resolution as soon as i press "yes" on the red panel that comes up, the game crashes.. the game also crashes whenever i press exit to windows. i can live with the exit crashing cos i can just use CTRL ALT DLT, however being stuck on 800x600 on a 19inch monitor is getting annoying. i was wondering if there was either a way to stop the game crashing OR a way to change the resolution without going into the game.

i would be gr8ful for any help anyone can offer. :)

my specs:

Athlon 2700+ on an ASUS a7v600 (meh) 1.5gig ram xfx geforce 6800 gt (256 ddr3) windows xp SP2

JA patched and fully up to date, no mods installed yet

Wow, I am jealous of the card!

However, more importantly, how uptodate are your vid card drivers? if not sure by checking nvidia.com.

Because of the newness (technology wise) of your card I would not use video drivers which are not "signed" ( ie have been tested to avoid the type of crash (among other things)you are encountering).

Drivers come out in a beta form (which can be available at the nvidia site and other places but are extensively tested and modified before being given the "signed driver status" and you may be able to find out whether there are any video or incompatibility issues remaining.

The other thing I have just noticed is that u are using SP2. I am not sure of the absolute compatibility of SP2 with the JKA game. There have been a number of bad rumours about games issues.......Better throw this one open to the forums and see how many other people have updated to SP2 and are /are not encountering problems.

Best of Luck!

FORCEWARE: Version: 61.77 Release Date: July 27, 2004

and yeh SP2 isnt the most amazing sp ive ever seen but i havent found this error anywhere else (ive done extensive google searches and ive searched this and a few other forums b4 i posted and couldnt find anything about crashing when changing resolution).

i just cant think of whats causing it . im gonna try rolling back the forceware drivers and if that dosent work then i will try editing the config externally :S

thanks for the input :)

EDIT: ok i tested it on the last two versions of forceware and it makes no difference so i dont think its the drivers

ok i found a bypass.. if you open either of the config.cfgs in the base directory (theres a seperate one for mp and sp) and look for the line "seta r_mode "x"" x is by default 4.. if you just change that to a higher number and use trial and error to find your resolution (1600x1200 = 9 :D)
