I havent had a good look in these forums and this question is not in the FAQ, so here it is: -Is it possiable to create a server from your computer so friends can join a JKJA game that you create. If so can anyone tell me how. What do i have to do and what does the other person have to do to find me across the net. Please help P.S. It was so easy to do this back in the day of red alert 1 and dial up, you could just type in the other persons phone number and it would connect to them. Why cant game makers go back to something basic for us noobs (unless it is basic). :uhoh:
first you go to advanced options of "create game", set dedicated to Net (dedicated : Net) then begin. This will close down ur jka and a console will appear, then once everything has stopped loading in the console, terminate it by clicking on the little x. Then start ur jka again, set dedicated : no, that makes a non-dedicated net server (YAY:) ) which means you'll be in it. (if ur connection speed isnt good then i suggest you make it a small 4 player server) Incase ur friend cant find it on the browser, tell him your ip and ask him to type /connect (ip) in console. Make sure both your versions are the same (1.00 or 1.01)
see i tried that but when i booted the game back up and said dedicated server : no, it just started the game and it was a LOCALHOST again when i checked "about" what do i do? im especially frustrated because i cant stand JA+ and i want to start a normal game with my friends! HELP!!!:bawl:
Go to my Education page http://www.chopshopservers.com/education/index.htm and click on the link "Running a Server from Home". It will tell you everything you need to know.
Thnx for the feedback ill have a go at it. If i have any problems ill post them.
