now thats interesting, ever thought about taking the game back and exchanging it? tho that can be possible in a worst case.

Did you add any extra .pk3 files in your "Base" folder (maps and / or skins)? Have you tryed reinstalling the game? What OS do you have ; XP or Vista? Are you always trying to connect to the same server or have you tryed some other server? Maybe the server you are trying to connect to uses some custom map that you don`t have. I know that this shouldn`t cause such problem , but I wouldn`t be surprised if it does.

Also, make sure your video drivers are updated. Or see if your computer runs on integrated graphics, in which case you will have no choice but to play JA at 800x600.

Have you tryed reinstalling the game? Your graphic card is quite old , so you might try using some older version of drivers. Sometimes older drivers work better with some (older) games. Maybe updating BIOS would help. As the last resort , you can formatt the hard drive and do clean OS reinstall. Try other things first.
