Those tutorials are even hard for me to understand, and I know how to make shaders... they don't actually tell you how to make them either, just the commands (I believe), so his questions is entirely valid. [/color]

Actually that shader tutorial is not hard to understand, I took the time to actually read it a few days ago, it feels like most programming languages, this is pretty much self explanatory. But yea, his/her question is completely valid if he/she does not have idea of how to handle a programming language.

*sigh* Well Night_Wing, since no one else is helping you much, I'll try.

To add shader effects to a skin you need two things:

1. A *.shader file that has the code that specifies the shader effects you want to apply and the names of the texture files to which to apply the effects

2. Texture files that support alpha channels. The alpha channel shows the areas of the texture that the shader will modify.

You can find the .shader files that came with the game in the \shader folder in assets1.pk3. You can use the ShaderEd2.exe program included with the Software Developers Kit (SDK) to view shader effects.

You will need to add alpha channels to your skin's textures (.jpg) files and save them as files that support alpha channels, either .png or .tga files.

Sorry I don't have time to give you more details, but it would take a whole tutorial to explain it all, and I'm no shader expert. One way you can learn on your own is to take apart a skin that uses shaders and study what the author did. One file that would be a good one to study is Goretex's Shadowtroopers http://jediknight2.filefront.com/file/Definitive_ShadowTrooper_SkinPack_v2;28329

I also used some shader effects in my Human Female Skin Expansion Mod http://jediknight2.filefront.com/file/Human_Female_Skin_Expansion_Pack;26787
