I used to play this game nonestop and I loved it.. downloaded loads of mods etc. but then one day, like 2 years ago.. i uninstalled it.. or something.. Now when i go to install it again, the install gets stuck on 24% and shows an error message saying: Component: Game1 File Group: Game1 Files File: E:\GameData\GameData\Base\assets0.pk3 Error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check). Can anyone help please? I really want to play this game again.. Thanks in advance <3

Check your installation disc. Is it dirty and/or scratched or damaged in any other way? Try cleaning it for start with something soft.

Hmm... not really. Cyclic Redundancy Check error is usually caused by dirty or damaged discs. Here's more info on it:

Yoda's Help DeskCyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) is a checksum to verify that the file has not been corrupted. When the file starts to copy, the operating system compares the file from the CD to the one on the hard drive. If the file does not match the original from the CD, then the CRC error occurs.

Source: LucasArts.com | Yoda's Help Desk

Have you checked the disc for any signs of physical damage? Even a slightest scratch can cause problems.

Yoda's Help Desk also suggests checking and cleaning the lens of your CD/DVD drive, but that's not something I'd recommend to everyone. It's best to have someone qualified and experienced do that.

I would personally recommend downloading the .iso files for the game and run them using either PowerISO, or some other one out there. I can get the link to download them if you need it.

My discs just stopped working for some reason a few years back so I had to go this route.

Do you know how to use PowerISO? It's really easy to learn. Just click "Mount" and click on the disk drive it's providing, and then click on the first disc file after you download it. You also should get BitTorrent so the download has the proper program to use. BitTorrent PowerISO

That's all you should need.

Those minor scratches are probably the cause of your problem.
and if you mean installing the game discless, then yeah ill give it a go.. thanks :) i would appreciate it if u could provide links as you said also, thanks :) <3

Get in on Steam. Entire Dark Forces / Jedi Knight collection is around 20 dollars, I think. Plus, it's a 100% legal download.
