I keep getting this error and am not sure why this is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Error opening C:/Program Files/LucasArts/Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy/GameData/base/maps/rgd_promo.map: Too many open files

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, after googling around I found this error only in the Radiant source itself (coders may interpret it...).

Another question: did you save any previous versions (e.g. mymap_01.map - mymap_xy.map) so you can always go one step back and start over from there again (recommended).

Advanced: you can also open ur map file in a texteditor and edit it by hand (work with a backup), maybe u accidently put an entity in an entity, e.g. func_breakable in func_door... (did something similar once and radiant denied to open it, solved by hand).

Hmmm...???

It would be great to know what you did just before you started to get the error (?).

I have a slight memory of getting that error before.. hmm..

I think I remember hearing somewhere that it's a Radiant 1.5 error.

Or, is your shaderlist.txt inaccurate??...

I am not sure what may be wrong. I use radiant 1.5.

I did copy and paste it on to a new map renamed it and still am having trouble.

I also made a small simple map, something that had no models, just to test out...Same problem happened.

I am in the process of taking out much of my added models and things. Such as doors triggers and fires.

Lighting I will keep.

I am wondering if I should just uninstall radiant and reinstall it; start over from scratch. That would be horrible since this it took me three months to actually make this map.

U said u made a simple test map (probably: a room, a light, a spawnpoint) and the same error occured again. So I assume the problem is not ur map (ur working on for 3 months!!!), the problem is obviously Radiant itself.

First backup ur .map files (custom shaders, textures, etc...).

Before u try to reinstall Radiant I recommend to try following first: - start Radiant (yes, 1.5), choose Preferences (P), press 'Clean' - a window will pop up saying: 'Reset Registry: This will close Radiant and clean the corresponding registry entries. Next time you start Radiant it will be good as new. Do you wish to continue? '. - Choose yes. WARNING: This will reset all settings to default. (I remember I had to do this once cause Radiant denied to work at all, can't remind the error but it worked after..)

If this don't work, sorry, try to reinstall Radiant... but as said before: First backup ur .map files (custom shaders, textures, etc...).

Well, I still have not fixed this problem. Not sure why this is happening on my comp, I went to my kids computer and I was able to go pretty far, then an error came up: I must disable the BSP, cause it could not read the network bsp drive. I am leaving for work now, when I return I will do the build command and post the actual message it said. I thought I would post on what had happened and see if someone knew before I actually post the error since the other computer is turned off.

Any suggestions on what it may be. I am considering on finding a mapper to finish this for me. Do some minor texturing and adding in some models/objects..

If this happens during the build process it's a Q3Map2 related problem and not GtkRadiant - solutions I described before won't probably help with this as they are related to the editor and not to the compiler...
