So, how could I fix certain animations that are missing from the JA+ mod? Some small things like grabbing on a ledge or pulling out the double saber has no animation (So, the character just enters the default hold arms out postion.)

Did you put "japlus_gla_anims.pk3" file in your "Base" folder?

If you put it in the base folder, it'll proceed to interfere with other mods, since all pk3s in the base folder are loaded as well as pk3s in the mod folder.

There's no reason that pk3 needs to go in base, basically. It's after 'assets' alphabetically, so if it's in japlus, the engine will still load it in lieu of assets.

The more likely issue, is having any other mod which modifies animations, in either the base or japlus folder, which comes after 'japlus_gla_anims.pk3' alphabetically.

Yes I have. It shows some animations, and some is that default...hold your arms out position.

I had an error like this with JA+, like animations were very, very wrong.

Have you got 2.3? The way I fixed it was to install 2.4 Beta 3, now they work fine.

Nah I've had this problem loads of times. It really is all about where you place the japlus_gla_anims.pk3. I had it going for a while, then I must've done something to mess it up. So what you do is, put the japlus_gla_anims.pk3 in base and japlus, and it'll work fine. Don't worry, the pk3 won't mess up anything in the game unless you have another animation pack installed.

It'll mess up any other mod you try to use, which is why it shouldn't go in base. Base is for content that can safely be loaded cross all mods, and japlus animations - what with them only being used in japlus - don't really fall in that category.

So if you wanted to try OJP or Movie Battles, for instance, having that anim file in base would stuff up those mods.

But eh, to each their own.

there's a problem with the engine where some stuff (like animations) isn't correctly loaded when you enter basejka and then load the mod. That's why mb2 has a file in the base folder. To prevent that.

Yeah, no arguments from me about the in-game mod menu, but the problem is easily bypassed by using the batch files packaged as standard as opposed to the in-game Mods menu.

That menu is so sloppily implemented that it shouldn't have been implemented at all, basically. :uhm:

Maybe I just prefer my mods to work without hindering the functionality of other mods.... But anyone who's not savvy with this kind of thing is going to have problems when trying to play JA+, MB2, or OJP when they have more than one installed.

For JA+, the conflict will merely shut down the new moves and anim features, for OJP that's going to be critical since the saber system revolves around the modified animations functioning properly, and MB2... well, I'm not commenting on MB2, haven't played it for at least six build releases and so wouldn't know much about it's current state.

Maybe mod installers should install the batch file and stick a shortcut in Jedi Academy's start menu folder, or like OJP Enhanced did, make a new folder with a shortcut on the start menu, to avoid people trying to use the in-game mod menu.

People won't want to waste five minutes loading the client twice when one shortcut does it for 'em, and it fixes the problem since the game isn't first loading one anim set then trying to override it, yes?

we have shortcuts in the jka folder. Since most people of mb2 don't even play basejka anymore there aren't much problems, but sometimes people ask in the forums why do animations and guns are all messed up =p. Damn Raven, was it so hard to make the game to do the decent load of all the mod?
