ok tech orientated ppls i have a doozy

my computer recently crashed and has come back from the shop seemingly ok till now i recently purchased jedi academy and have never got the game to work... im running windows 98 and whenever i install the game i receive the old insert disk 0 error. occasionally something called autorun2 would fail during the installation also after trying the solution posted on this site i recived a new problem, strangely called guru meditation failure that closes the game just after clicking on the desktop icons. i was suprised by this as jedi outcast, which i believe to be running the same game engine used to work on my computer (before the crash) and ive noticed that other games that used to work such as ghost recon and empire earth also crash and i belive this to be somehow related to the guru meditation/autorun fiasco. ive downloaded the latest detonater drivers for my vid card, defraged the hard drive tried multiple uninstalls and re-installs but i always recieve this error.. so any ideas folks?

Windows 98?

2005 - 1998 = 7 years. That's a lifetime in computer terms. Especially since Windows 98 is basically the same code as Windows 95. 2005 - 1995 = 10 years.

Windows 2000\XP are based on separate and much better code than Win 9x. Upgrading from Windows 98 to XP Home for $99 or less would be one of the best things you could do for all of your computing, including gaming.

The only time I have ever seen the "guru meditation" error was after I installed and then uninstalled the AOTC:TC demo. I was able to repair it by copying all the files in the Install directory on CD 1 to the Install directory in my game installation.
