This is BEFORE I get to the main menu. And when I start SP it worked OK, it was a bit choppy and slow, and crashed without warning. But now I can't play at all. When I go to new game it crashes with a runtime error or something about visual drivers not responding. Same when I load. The PC, card and drivers are very new, and I can run games like TES 4 Oblivion with max settings and no lag. Im using Vista, could that be the problem? I heard about errors on it for this game. Or maybe my DirectX is too new.

Look. Loading dll file ui. Failed to load dll, looking for qvm. It cant find that dll. Try either reinstalling, or just getting new copies of the assets files, and if you can find it the dll files off the CD. Also reinstall the patch.

Basically, just stick the CD in your disc drive, go to My Computer, right-click on the CD drive and select Explore from the menu. Navigate through the CD until you find the assets files, and just copy/paste them into the base folder on your hard drive.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

I did what Kouen said, and it worked fine for a while, but now the problems are back. I reinstalled, I patched, I replaced the assets0.pk3 from the disk, I used the properties thing and made it run as an administrator (that's the usual way to fix it) and I tried to run it in compability mode for XP. Nothing works, It allways crashes before I can load a game. I hope this is not a bump, it's only five days old not six weeks.
