When I try to host a game no one ever joins, and my friends cant see my server on the server list how to I get my server to show up?
i have that same problem! im with ya buddy! i think we might have a mod or something or mabey a wrong file we might have gotten from joining a server with it. try scouring your gamedata and base folder for anything you didnt download intentionally. if that doesnt work then me and you are both stuck until someone knows what to do. By the way, you ARE making an internet game right? and you DO know that it appears in the local section of your server list? Just asking! wow i feel dumb for even asking a stupid question like that.:uhm:
Make sure your setting up a INTERNET game and a DEDICATED server, this will take you out of the game and to the server console, re-enter JKA and find your server on the serverlist. If i were you id probably just buy a server.
yeah on the host game place it says advanced options, and then I did dedicated and internet, but no one can ever see my server and my friends cant either. yeah I can see my server on the local list and I can join it. but my friends tried looking for it on the "internet" list on their computer and my server wasnt there.
thats what i just said...whatever......but i removed everything from my base folder and such but it still wont appear in the list. any ideas? cant be a mod or something if it wont show up even in a cleared JKA. mabey your internet connection has something to do it? i had DSL and it worked fine but im using a 56 k modem right now on an different PC since my other broke. only now has my servers not worked since i switched to the 56 k modem. what internet connection do you have? if you have one similar to mine that may be the problem. if not then the problem may be an in-game one. just a suggestion...

The JKJA ingame browser does not show you all servers available, use a server browser like ASE (All-Seeing Eye) for example.
Your server might not show up because your only master server is jk3.ravensoft.com.
/sv_master2 master0.gamespy.com and /sv_master3 clanservers.net
If you have a router, the problem might be the router firewall. Either disable the router firewall or open the JKA standard port 29070 (open this port also on all other firewalls you have).
(JAWA)LeaderLinkMake sure your setting up a INTERNET game and a DEDICATED server, this will take you out of the game and to the server console, re-enter JKA and find your server on the serverlist.
You don't have to set the server to dedictated, if you want people being able to join.
well with that said, it still doesnt explain why it doesnt show up in the list at all. plus my server is running under JA+ mod and it has other master servers listed on it (including gamespy and such). but that leads to ANOTHER problem. my server.cfg along with all of my other configurations dont save! for instance, everytime i change my name, it goes back (along with all my other stuff) to default. at first it kept going to my little brothers settings but now it goes back to default which means even if i made a server that i could join, the master servers in the server.cfg wouldnt be loaded so there has to be something more here. plus i dont want to go through all that trpuble of setting up another master server if the one i have SHOULD work but isnt...
I know that you dont have to set it to dedicated to be able to join, just connect to the IP. But to show up on the server list you need to set it to dedicated.
Im using 64k ISDN so that might be y because I think I need a faster internet speed or something
Internet speed doesnt determine if someone can join your server or not, make sure they are searching on INTERNET not local.
