What kind of transparency? Total transparency or partial transparency?

a total transparency of one part, but i think it would be considered a partial transparency

Well, I have gotten it to work by merely doing (for a doublesided fence) textures/xxx/xxx { cull twosided { map textures/xxx/xxx blendFunc blend } } I think thats it, and if you dont want it to be two sided, remove the cull twosided command.

That's not what he's looking for. Blendfunc blend will not give you total transparency.

your_path { { map your_path blendFunc GL_SRC_ALPHA GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA rgbGen lightingDiffuse } }Try this one. It will make anything completely transparent in your alpha map transparent in-game. Remember you need to use the TGA or PNG filetype to show transparency, and you need a functional alpha channel.

You can also try: your_path { { map yourpath. alphaFunc GE192 depthWrite rgbGen lightingDiffuse } }

no, I know its total transparency, I used it yesterday to knock out the alpha channel on a fence texture. Thats the other thing, you need an alpha channel for blend to work, I forgot that. And if you want total on one part, and partial on another, that can be done, as seen with the screenshot of my WIP Phendrana Drifts, I used it to knock out the parts around the panel, and make the panel look like a holopanel (slightly transparent) But I dont know the combo off the top of my head, seem to remember something like GL_ONE GL_DST_COLOR...but thats probably wrong.

Blend is a bad function to use -- it often-times screwed up stuff (graphically) in JA. It's best to avoid it unless you really need it.

yeah, the texture I first used with a more complicated blendfunc got REALLY screwed up, it had multicolored lines EVERYWHERE ingame. and for some reason, it also changed the texture itself to be that after I compiled the map...so I found blendfunc blend, which didnt do that. There are many ways to get the same result, and its more of an art than a science to combine them well.
