I have been getting a weird error (SV_setbrushmodel:null) with this map Iam making. I copied and pasted a part, so that can be why. however I don't get why this would happen. anyone know about this? :uhm:

Edit: here is a picture

Yep.

First, run a brush cleanup. You may have a malformed brush somewhere.

The main cause of this error is an areaportal that is a func_something (usually a func_door). All you need to do is put it into the worldspawn. (Fastest way: ctrl+shift click on an areaportal texture in the 3d view, push shift+a to select all areaportal brushes, then right-click on the grid and click worldspawn.) Note that making it func_group will not solve the problem.

Also, you may have an infinitely thin brush from a CSG Subtract operation somewhere. If brush cleanup can't find it, look through all your recent subtractions, and find the itty bitty brush that's killing you, and delete it.

That should do it!

if above help stuff does not work...then zoom out very far out...select whole map on the map window (not the quick command in edit meny) then copy..create new map..andpaste..and compilie and error goes away :D

How's that work?? Now you've made me curious.

Edit: Oh, I see, NOT the quick selection option....I see what you're saying. I guess I should stop posting when I'm so tired.

uh? copy and paste the whole map is a noob and unsafe way of getting rid of this error.. (i don't think it works tbh, instead you should know what is causing the problem and here, ov_nab622 is closer to a solution than ZidZabre)

found this on map-craft:

"Map-Craft"SV_SetBrushModel: NULL There is an error with one or more of the brush entities in your map. Example: You may have the "function_rotating" entity with only the "origin" brush (look for something like this in you’re junk.txt file - Entity 0, Brush 1: origin brushes not allowed in world), or you may have placed the "area portal" texture on a door entity (this may produce an error like - Entity 2, Brush 0: area portals only allowed in world) etc. Fixes Make sure you have both the origin brush and the brush that you are rotating selected before you give it a function_rotating. The same goes for any other entity that requires the origin brush. Also, check that there are no textures on any of the entities that shouldn’t be there.

i had no idea it was unsafe since it works... copy and paste selects only visible stuff in GTK... when having this error you might have an invisible/phantom brush...and copy pasting leaves the phantom brush out :) I'd say its pretty safe if you know how to select and copy plus paste....

as for the map craft..its funny how they leave out the phantom brush thing... >_> i guess they don't know all :D

"phantom brushes" are only in 1.5 so your fault if you use it :p

How utterly insulting, lol :P

Actually, Darth Norman, I'm pretty sure phantom brushes are in Radiant 1.4 as well - I believe I have had them before. Brush cleanup was giving me reports about them and telling me it wouldn't rebuild them. I've also had brushes with an inverse area (I can't think of any other way to describe it). It's invisible, but takes up the entire map and messes you all up. You can't select anything because that brush is the one calculated as being clicked when you shift+click (the inverse value messes up the selection process).

I did forget this error can happen with a func_rotating, too. But that's an easy fix. REALLY easy. Leave it up to me to forget the easy way out of things.

How to run a brush cleanup? Go to the plugins menu, the bobztoolz submenu, and click brush cleanup. This isn't likely to solve your problem, but you never know. In case you're wondering, all brush cleanup does is find malformed brushes with bad values and all sorts of other goodies on them, and remakes them the proper way. If it can't remake them right, it deletes them, and tells you about it (but that doesn't happen very often).

well my problem has been fixed by deleting every single door and remaking them, so thanks guys, you have helped me A LOT :)
