Would it even be possible to look into, modifying the game so that certain limbs can be cut off without "killing" them, thus adding a little more realism to the game play? I read of editing the .skin file of the model u want this kind of dismemberment to work on...something about an *off command in the .skin file, but I have no experience with this....is there and easier way or mods already done to handle this??? Thanks... Markgba

The *off command is for removing parts of a model you don't want, it doesn't have to do with anything involving dismemberment. There was a thread asking a similar question, go ahead and look for that.

It's quite simple. You can, infact, remove a surface, which may be a limb. However, the problem is, this usually causes serious glitches with the model playing, and looks unrealistic depending on the surface you remove, especially being a limb. However, it can also be extremely useful when creating a skin, for variation.

Example: You want to remove the stormtrooper's right arm. Open up the model_Default.skin, and find this line of code.

r_arm,models/players/stormtrooper/torso_legs.tga

This is what it should look like. Now, to remove the arm, you will have to change it to this.

r_arm,*off

Badaboom. However, because his hand uses a seperate surface, you will also have to turn off the hand using the exact same method. Hope this helps.
