Hi all, I couldn't find a topic that covered this so I apologise if I am repeating a known topic. Can any one give me a comprehensive set of instructions or things that I need to do to increase my Frames per second when playing Multiplayer Jedi Academy? At the moment, the best I can get is 54 to 58 and I would love to be able to increase this in some way.

The big one is, make sure you have r_dynamicglow set to 0. But the Chop Shop has a great thing too at http://www.chopshopservers.com/education/mjz's_config_guide.html .

Set all your settings on low. Resolution does not really matter.

After having done the above, raise your fps limit by modifying /com_maxfps

Or you could save a bit of cash and buy a graphics card that can handle all the settings when they are at their maximum.

WhiteSharkSet all your settings on low. Resolution does not really matter.[/quote]Actually, resolution does matter, because at higher resolutions, detail levels increase drastically.

If that game lags on 1024x768, for example, it will probably run better on 640x480, although the other settings will still cause problems. (I get 1280x1024 fullscreen, high-definition, lag-free. God I love my new monitor. emoticon.gif )

Agreed. If you're having trouble running Jedi Academy on medium to high settings, you're not gonna be able to run any newer games at all.

Hell, I've got a GeForce 4, and that shuts me out from almost all new releases because even though the card is powerful enough, it lacks features new titles use.

GeForce 6800GT and above is great. GeForce 7900GTX is the current god amongst graphics cards, and it's not even an nVidia card so no more of that Forceware crap. :banana2:

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

I know what you mean. I recently upgraded to an ATI X1900 512MB Radeon. It runs all my games, including JKA, on maximum settings, including full AA, as smooth as butter. (Ive very nearly finished pimping out my machine, all I need now is the latest version of XP Profesional - Media Center stinks - ,clear computer case and some neon lights :D)

That is one of my favorite sites, acctually. Just remember that the more stuff you do to incread your fps, the worse JA will look. In fact, if you do all of the things listed at that site it will eventually end up like this.

ya if you have to turn everything to low you might as well not play i had to do that with halo on an older pc and it was still slow... and when you shoot, you dont see anything! you shoot a weapon you see an explosion but no shot it looks so bad you want to take a flamethrower and torch your pc, or hang it by a rope, fill it with doghnuts, and get a bat and invite your friends to take turns hitting it till doughnuts come out! (doughnuts are better than candy* * i have not done this before but it sounds fun. but.... so does getting a bunch microsoft windows discs and using them as CP's but thats a little expensive. aol discs are cheeper

That's one way to get rid of an old comp. Invite some cops!
