I have a question, is there a way to make your OWN texture? Or put words on a texture? I really need to know if I am going to be a good mapper someday.

Yes.

Save a JPG file to your gameData/base/your_map_name_here_or_whatever_you_want folder.

Make sure it is a baseline JPG (MSpaint always saves such, in case you're curious) with the width and height both being one of the sizes listed below (powers of two):

4 8 16 32 64 128 256 (small) 512 (decent) 1024 (large) 2048 (overkill)

The texture itself is best to be made in photoshop/gimp. They are pretty much the same except for that ecery single tutorial is in photoshop format, and photoshop lies on a price. Gimp is free and has the same features, basically. If you want something special made in ps/gimp just search for tutorials or ask someone that knows how to do things in these programs, or you can be even risky and try it out on your own. Actually if you want some textures that are in a certain theme, try looking for them in other maps but if you are goign to use them MAKE SURE THAT YOU ASK FOR PERMISSION FIRST, and that you include them in your credits. Theres also some real textures that you can modify here. [CG Textures] - The worlds largest free texture site

ok so I pick the one I want, and copy and paste it into Microsoft Paint? Or what do I do next after I find the texture I want? Then how do I get it ON my map? :)
