I am having this mapping error (after I finished my lighting) and I copied the error which showed the below. this error only occurs when I do anything with "-light" when making the BSP.
"************ ERROR ************ MAX_TW_VERTS (12) exceeded"
does anyone know about this and what should I do?
This is a horrible little error to fix...Here's a solution from map-craft.com:
MAX_TW_VERTS (12) exceeded!!! A trace winding is created for every triangle in the map and then chopped up into the BSP, then further chopped up until each of the raytracer's nodes is smaller than a certain size or complexity. Hitting MAX_TW_VERTS means you have got some clustercrunch of geometry getting sliced up too much. Run a BSP compile with -debugportals (assuming you have the q3map.shader installed & in shaderlist.txt, or you are editing with the newest version of Gtk) with no vis or light stage, and run around the map looking for areas with lots of portals. Fixes 1. If you can't find the offending area, then run the -light phase with the -lomem string to disable the trace tree subdivision. 2. Your map may be quite complex. Did you use a larger _blocksize key? Try _blocksize 8192 (or 16384) in the worldspawn.
I had this error before. You can either: The problem is that you used the Vector tool(V) on a brush, and it has 12 or more vertices. Find this brush and make it a detail brush. If that do not work, find a big brush with little brushes intersecting it, and make that a detail brush. After that it should be fine. Let us know how it turns out.
I had that problem before too, one time when I ran the plugin tool for brush cleanup it fixed the problem, but only one of the times I had it.
