Hi, I hope this is in the right place. I would like to create a server using JA+ v2.4 beta2. I downloaded it and have already customized the server.cfg. I'm running windows xp. I double-click on the start_jed_academy_dedicated.bat (something like that) and the cmd window pops up. Am I doing this correct. I have a linksys wireless router. Thanks in advaced. amunimanghi

Ok, I can't find the edit button. Oh well. I decieded to create the server by going to Create A Game and make the dedicated server that way. I just have one request. How can I make this so it uses my server.cfg. Thanks

You don't.

There are two ways you can do it:

1. At the main menu, open the console and type /exec server.cfg 2. Alternately, go into your gamedata folder and run the start_japlus_using_raven_dedicated_server_pack.bat file. This will load the server on it's own.

If you do number 2, you then have to go into the game, and at the main menu, open the console and type /connect localhost:21000.

(Note: If you've changed the net_port number yourself, you'll have to replace 21000 with the number you put in the .bat file.)

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

Give them the IP and port, and then they just need to do /connect IP.IPI.PIP.IP:PORT at the main menu.

Obviously, they need to replace "IP.IPI.PIP.IP" with your IP number, and "PORT" with the port number, 29070.

To find out your IP.... www.whatismyip.com

Ok, I did the second way above. The server started and i joined using /connect ipnumber:21000. That ip number is the one that was in the consol. It worked. I gave the ip number to my friend but he can't login. I went to link that you gave me above and it gave me a different ip number. He still can't loggin that way. Am I doing something wrong? btw I have a wireless router. Is that affecting it?

Probably, yeah. If you want to host, you're better off with an ADSL connection, or anything which doesn't use routers.

Routers just screw up the whole process.

I'd sticky something like this telling ppl how to set up there own server, if it hasn't already been done.
