ok, my clanserver has in the last month or so, been crashed 'bout 100 times, in the last week it has been crashed every day, several times a day. Now this server is located a 3 hour drive away and i do have a life other than jka. I have heard that there is a way to restart a dedicated server when it crashes without resetting the server settings, can anyone here tell me where to find such a program, or come up with some other way to solve my problem? Thanks Methos P.S. the server is currently running as password protected to prevent these crashes, this is not a good solution. hence this post

Hmz maybe you should consider if someone is crashing your server. It's very well possible that your server is being crashed by someone who dislikes you or your friends.

Contact the person who runs the server and ask why it crashes so many times and ask how you can reset it.

There might be an auto restart or shutdown system on ur server you should check if thats there as well.

Hmm... I'd check all the possibilities before jumping to "conspiracy theory."

im hosting the server myself from my work, it does not automatically restart, every time it has crashed in the past 2 weeks the same guy has been on the server, him and two other known crashers has already been banned. there are still occasional crashes though so i will repeat the question, is there a way to automatically restart the server when it is crashed if yes, which way/program can i use for it and where can i find it, if no, what else can i do.

Hi guys, I just started playing jk3 again and I heard something about making a guns only server. How exactly can I do this?

If you are running JA+ mod it includes auto-restart scripts for Windows and Linux. There are also other solutions for both Windows and Linux.

[QUOTE=limbojimbo]Hi guys, I just started playing jk3 again and I heard something about making a guns only server. How exactly can I do this?

When I made a melee-only server, I tried totally disabling the lightsaber both with g_forcepowerdisable (to disable Saber Attack) and g_weapondisable, but I couldn't get rid of the lightsaber. I ended up setting g_saberdamagescale 0 to make the lightsaber cause no damage.

You can run the Disruption instagib mod. The only weapon is a one-hit-kill (instagib) Tenloss disruptor rifle with unlimited ammo. Instagib never caught on with Jedi Academy but it is still popular in JK2 (Jedi Outcast). Instagib players often become addicted and play nothing else.

Windows or Linux?

For Windows you can start the server with this DedServ.bat file

@ECHO OFF BREAK=ON jampDed +set dedicated 2 +exec server.cfg ECHO win32 server auto-restarted: >> Restart.txt DATE /t >> Restart.txt TIME /t >> Restart.txt

call DedServ.bat

There are also restart scripts for Linux.

Yes, you are reading it wrong. The batch file pauses after the server starts. If the server crashes the batch file continues by logging the date and time of the crash in a log file, then calls itself to restart the server.

By the way, there really is no good reason to run Jedi Academy 1.00 (unlike, say, running Jedi Outcast 1.02). JA 1.00 has a bugged server browser that shows only a fraction of the servers. Fixing the server browser was the main reason for the patch.
