2 days ago, I reformatted and re-installed WinXP. After getting my pc up and running, I re-installed Jedi Academy. After starting to play SP, I noticed I couldn't switch saber syles. I was stuck in medium. Iknowkungfu and setforceall x would let me cycle through all three once, and then get stuck in medium again. Addsaberstyle and setsaberstyle wouldn't work. Changing to a saber staff, then turning off one end and then changing back to a single bladed hilt would let me stay in fast, but only if I don't change it. I played the game to the point where you get to choose a 2nd style, but I was still stuck in medium.

Here's some more info it it'll help.

I installed winxp, with service pack 3.

I installed Jedi Academy and the 1.01 patch, with nothing but base assets in the base folder. No mods or custom pk3s.

my video card is an ATI Radeon 9550 with 7.3 drivers and CCC. Any driver newer than this gives me the OpenGL error, so I've stuck with 7.3 most of the last year. Yesterday, I did briefly try 8.12, but had the OpenGl error, so I went back to 7.3

I have directx 9.whatever and .net framework 2.0 and 3.5 installed

The only thing that's really different with this re-install is XP service pack 3. I wonder if something there might have done it. Any ideas out there?

You've used cheats that alter your saber offense? That's why. :nodding:

No it isn't. I sometimes like to play SP, and max out the force, so I can zap bad guys with lightning, and mind trick them into walking off platforms and such. After my re-installs, I wanted to do this, and found out that I couldn't change styles. I then tried all the cheats to try and get the styles back. I then deleted the game I was playing and started over without using any cheats at all, made it to Hoth, got another style, and still couldn't change them. I even uninstalled JKA, and re-installed. Nothing worked.

I've played SP dozens of times, with cheats on, and my force maxed out, and could always change styles. Now I can't. I've tried to find a solution through Google, but turned up nothing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, well not being able to change style is a classic symptom of using setforceall or setsaberoffense.

If that's not it, my next bet would be mod conflict. Anything in your base folder which interferes with the saber system?

Nope. I have no mods, or custom pk3s in my base folder, just base JKA. I almost never use setsaberoffense, or setsaberstyle. It's generally setforceall, or iknowkungfu. And until the other day, I've never had a problem switching.

Strange how it's never caused a problem before, setforceall is almost unique in it's tendency to cause this.

How high do you usually set your force powers, if I may ask?

Aside from that problem, I'll have to go do a little debugging and replicate the error myself to determine any other causes. I'll get back to you a little later on.

I usually setforceall 200, or iknowkungfu, if I want to use meele. And thanks for the effort.

Okay, just a minor question - Windows Vista?

Even stranger.

Well, for some odd reason on my laptop I'm completely unable to change saber styles whether I do anything with the console or not, and compatibility mode doesn't fix it, so I can't really replicate the error.

The best solution I could personally offer you is a VSTR script which sets the middle mouse button to toggle saber stance in a recursive medium-fast-strong loop. I'm not entirely sure it'll work for you since you mentioned that setsaberstyle didn't help, but it's worth a shot so you're welcome to it.

Just place the attached .zip file in your base folder, extract it, and at the start of a level punch exec sabfix into the console.

Hope it works, but if not, perhaps someone else can offer more relevant support. Sorry I couldn't be of more use.
