ok, this has been going on for way too long, i want someone to answer this simple question: in jk2 my computer runs it at like 80 fps normally, which is all good and fine BUT IN JKA things SLOW DOWN and fps drops to the tune of about 11 fps, and ive loaded the exact same map (ffa_bespin to be exact) and looked at the fps and the difference is amazing. so whats up with that? the two games aren't that graphically different (i have them on the exact same graphics settings as well) so why is the fps so different? so can someone tell me?

Jedi Academy does require more graphics horsepower than Jedi Outcast. The two things that I found in my testing killed framerates the most was Shadows: Volumetric and Dynamic Glow: ON. Make sure Shadows are Simple or Off, and Dynamic Glow is OFF.

For maximum framerate with the penalty of ugly graphics, go to http://www.chopshopservers.com/education/index.htm and click on Maximum Performance Config.
